Course Descriptions
American Sign Language 101, 102, 103 – Textbooks: The American Sign Language Phrase Book by Lou Fant.
Chinese 101, 102, 103 – Textbooks: Living Language Ultimate Mandarin Chinese, Beginners Chinese, or Chinese Link.
French 101 – This course is designed for the students who has no previous knowledge of French. The focus is on assisting the students to acquire the basics of the French language (pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, usage, etc.) in a relaxed non-threatening setting. Parisian pronunciation and usage is stressed, such as might be needed in a travel situation. The class generally meets for 10-12 weeks, for 1 1/2 – 2 hours per week. Text: French Made Simple.
French 102 – This course is a continuation of French 101 and assumes that the students have taken French I or its equivalent. The course is structured to help students to delve deeper into the vocabulary, grammar, and usage of modern French. The course is taught more and more in French so as to allow the students to gradually improve their listening skills in the language. The class generally meets for 10-12 weeks, for 1 1/2 – 2 hours per week. Text: French Made Simple .
French 103 – This course is the continuation of French 101 and 102and assumes that the students have had a strong foundation in the rudiments of French. The course continues to build up the students’ command of French vocabulary, grammar, and usage, and also strenthens the students’ ability to understand spoken French and to produce well-formed French sentences. The class generally meets for 10-12 weeks, for 1 1/2 – 2 hours per week. Text: French Made Simple.
